Emily Kleeman
Executive Director
I am passionate about serving those in need, especially within the criminal justice system. Becoming an Executive Director was a long-held dream, and after 15 years, I joined TRI to help transform it into the full-service organization it is today. My goal is to lead with thoughtfulness, compassion, and support, fostering a team environment that feels more like family than colleagues. What makes you smile? Cats, traveling, spending time with my husband, my team at TRI, and memories of Deborah. A favorite moment at TRI? Working alongside our Founder, Deborah, in the early days was incredibly meaningful. She was my mentor and biggest cheerleader. Another highlight was bringing Dom home from prison and welcoming her to TRI. Additionally, seeing former members join our staff and grow into their roles has been deeply rewarding. Who is important to you? My husband is my unwavering support and best friend. He lifts me up during stressful times, makes me laugh daily, and appreciates the work I do. My cats, who watch over me from the rainbow bridge, Deborah, who continues to guide me, and my supportive family are also incredibly important to me. What are some of your favorite activities? Dancing, skiing, boating/paddleboarding, watching Disney and Marvel movies, traveling, cooking, and rewatching childhood shows. What wellness practices do you engage in or wish to learn? I practice strength training, enjoy facials and massages, maintain regular manicures/pedicures, focus on hair care, and utilize acupuncture and chiropractic services. I'm also exploring non-traditional wellness methods like hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cold plunges, and hot spring soaks. What certificates, degrees, or recognitions support you in doing your TRI work? Master's in Social Work with a concentration in Management of Community Organizations specializing in Mental Health; Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Some unique or quirky skills, knowledge, or passions? I'm honing my cooking and baking skills. Playing Mario with my husband, where his main role is helping me jump and defeat bad guys, is a fun pastime. I can recount every episode of Friends, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and Outlander—even traveled to Scotland to see the opening scene in real life. Sending cat memes to friends to make them smile is a favorite hobby. I've watched the Marvel movies in chronological order, yet still discover new Easter eggs!
